Karen Combs gradations by Avlyn have started to arrive.  I have ordered all of them,  and the shipment should be complete by the end of June.  These pieces are so special that we put them in a separate category on the shopping page.  Another group from Avlyn has just arrives as well.  They are in a Southwestern motif in browns and turquoises. Absolutely gorgeous!

I have approached a very talented local quilt artist, (Gail Wells Curnutt), about doing an exclusive BOM for Batiks Galore.  She has come thru with an absolutely gorgeous (almost iridescent) quilt. 

Because of Gails' eye for detail, the pattern also includes quilting instructions for each block.  Click on the picture above for more information.

A new kit has been added by Sherrie Killebrew, another local artist.  This is my favorite kind of quilt. 

 Fantasy Garden
The entire quilt can be either fused or appliquéd.  I am blessed with so many talented friends and customers that more exclusive kits and BOM's will be added in the future. 

At the end of June, our wonderfully talented Pam and I will be headed for Kalispell, Montana, for a week with Judy Niemeyer.  We will get certified to teach her classes.  Judy will be at our retreat here in Joshua, January  7, 8, 9 and 10, 11, 12.  The excitement level is very high around here. We will be teaching classes on a continuing basis during the week as well as on the weekends.  We believe in personal attention at this shop, so our classes will be small.  If you can get 4 to 6 people together, we will have a class for you.

Another new thing we are doing is scissors sharpening.  Dave has been officially trained to take care of all of your sharpening needs.  He went to South Carolina to Scissor Sharpening School.  Now that is really official!!!

There will be no more shows

As many of you know, we will no longer be a vendor at any shows.  It was a painful decision to make.  I will miss seeing all of the friends I have made at these shows for the past eight years.  The Retreat Center and the Batik Barn (our shop), as well as this website, will keep me busy, and hopefully out of trouble.
